  • What is a Digital Product Passport (DPP)?

Ein DPP ist ein digitaler Steckbrief eines physischen Produkts. EU-konform aufgebaut gemäss den neuen Anforderungen der EcoDesign-Verordnung (EU) 2023/1542 und der kommenden Verordnung über nachhaltige Produkte (ESPR).

It contains:

  • Angaben zu Materialien, CO₂-Fussabdruck und Reparierbarkeit
  • Data on production, origin and supply chain
  • Information on certifications, ESG compliance and recyclability

Starting in 2027 – initially mandatory for:

  • Batterien (gemäss Verordnung (EU) 2023/1542)
  • Textiles
  • Electronics
  • Building products

Why a DPP alone is not enough

  • A DPP is only as secure as its carrier medium.
  • A printed QR code can be copied.
  • Digital data records or PDF certificates can be manipulated.

Without physical evidence:

  • The connection to the actual object
  • Real-time proof of ownership
  • Tamper detection for packaging, opening, or duplicates
